Dr Barry Kneale

Barry qualified from Oxford University and Guy’s Hospital Medical School and went on to train in Cardiology at St Thomas’ Hospital in London and associated hospitals. Whilst at St Thomas’ he completed a British Heart Foundation junior research fellowship, gaining his Doctorate of Medicine from Oxford University for his work in differences in blood vessel reactiveness between men and women.
Barry is an experienced interventional cardiologist with particular expertise in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI or coronary stenting/angioplasty). He has practiced as a Consultant for 10 years at Worthing, Brighton and St Thomas’ Hospitals in the UK before moving with his family to Tauranga in 2010. He established a PCI centre at Worthing Hospital and has now established a similar PCI programme in Tauranga which has proved to be hugely successful with excellent published outcome data.
Barry is passionate about patient care and delivering a safe and high quality service. He has instituted a number of initiatives to the local service with this aim in mind which is well regarded amongst the New Zealand interventional community. He has numerous publications and presentations based on his clinical experience and research.
